A valiant battle...

It’s been a long time coming, but Sunday 16th saw our U11s team back in action. Briefly, we played Whitchurch A and B, Swansea and Rhonda. Whitchurch A were like a well-oiled machine and Rhonda were all 13 years old and very tall! We lost these but it was not like the losses we had in the past, when it was very one sided, our team challenged, with individual and team performances that were brilliant. We had a goalless draw against Swansea, and 3-3 draw against Whitchurch B. The kids played fantastic and kept the momentum going throughout, (the last match when we kept scoring against Whitchurch B you would think we had won the Welsh Cup!)

I’ll leave the scores there….

We had the minimum 7 players, with no subs, so the work rate was very high, on a positive they all settled into their roles and place on the pitch. Robin and Daniel were brilliant in defence, Robin’s timing of tackles and challenges kept the score line down way below what it could have been, and Daniel made some crucial clearances on the line and in the D.

Our mid fielders worked so hard, supporting the forwards and defence, Lucas was strong, Harry ran everywhere and never gave up and successfully won balls against bigger and older competition and Dexter was all over the field like a rash, winning and passing lovely balls through.

Our forwards, Leo and James were resilient to the last, fast, powerful, fighting for every opportunity.

None of these players gave up on the ball, if they lost it they kept pressurising the opposition to get it back. They were passing to each other, playing 1-2s back and forth between 2 players, using anchors, supporting each other throughout and working their socks off to win and keep each ball.

Huge improvement from our last performance.

We had a great morning, Jo, Ash and myself thoroughly enjoyed watching you all work so hard and try what we had been learning

See you in training

Jo
