Game Week 2 brought another busy weekend of hockey for Gwent Hockey Club, with six teams taking to the pitch and plenty to celebrate both on and off the pitch.
A Winning Weekend for the Women’s Teams
It was a fantastic weekend for our Women’s section, with all three teams in action coming away with a win.
The Ladies' 1st Team put in a brilliant performance to secure a 5-0 victory, keeping a clean sheet while finding the back of the net five times.
The Ladies' 2nd Team had a much closer contest but held their nerve to come away with a 3-2 win, securing another valuable three points.
The Ladies' 3rd Team continued the winning run with an impressive 6-1 victory, making it three wins from three for the Women’s teams this week.
The Ladies' 4th Team didn't have a fixture this weekend, but will be back in action in the coming weeks.
A Mixed Weekend for the Men’s Teams
The Men’s teams had a more challenging weekend, with the Men's 1st Team battling to a 1-1 draw. A point on the board keeps the team moving forward as the season continues.
The Men's 2nd Team came up against a tough opponent and finished the game 0-4, while the Men's 3rd Team also faced a difficult fixture, going down 1-7.
There is plenty of hockey still to be played this season, and all three teams will be looking to bounce back in their next fixtures.
Off the Pitch: Our First Club Social
It wasn't all about hockey this weekend, as the club also came together for our first social of the season!
Players from across the club headed to Caerleon for a pub crawl, making the most of an evening away from the pitch. It was a brilliant opportunity for everyone to get to know each other, catch up with teammates and, of course, enjoy a few drinks along the way.
With new faces joining the club and plenty of hockey still to come, it's great to see the club spirit already building both on and off the pitch.
Looking Ahead
With Game Week 2 wrapped up, we're looking forward to another week of fixtures, more goals and hopefully plenty more wins.
A huge well done to everyone who represented Gwent Hockey Club this weekend - and thank you to everyone who supported from the sidelines.
See you at the pitch! ?
