After being crowned Prem 1 champions on 12 April, the Ladies' 1st Team were going for an unprecedented league and cup double as they took on Whitchurch Saints in the Welsh Championship final at WIS on 24 April.

Saints took an early lead via a well worked penalty corner routine and went on to dominate both possession and chances. Izzy Marsh made some fantastic saves to keep the scoreline 1-0 at half time.

Gwent did their best to get back into the game but Saints continued to create the better goal scoring opportunities. They went 2-0 up when a penalty flick was awarded for the ball hitting a defender's foot on the line.

Gwent never managed to play their fast passing game and were below their best; the league season having taken its toll both physically and emotionally. They did however manage to get a consolation goal in the last move of the game; Shannon Dimmick scoring from a penalty corner.

Final score - 2-1. Congratulations to Whitchurch Saints for a well deserved win.

Although the team didn't achieve the double; winning the league was a fantastic achievement.

Huge thank you to everyone who has supported the team and the club this season; coaches, captains, committee members, umpires, volunteers and the best fans in Wales!
