The Gwent Hockey Club family is once again making its mark on the international stage, with Marc Redfern and Steve Drowley representing Wales Masters at the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup.

Marc is competing with the Wales Over 60s in Brasschaat, Belgium, while Steve is part of the Wales Over 70s squad competing in Breda, Netherlands.

It is a fantastic achievement for both players and a proud moment for everyone at Gwent Hockey Club to see them pulling on the Welsh shirt on the world stage.

Marc Redfern – Wales Over 60s

Marc Redfern is representing Wales Over 60s in Brasschaat, where the O60 competition is taking place.

Wales currently sit third in Group D, having played two matches, with one draw and one defeat.

With the competition still to play, Marc and the Wales O60s will be looking to build on their performances and climb the group as they continue their World Cup campaign.

Representing your country is a tremendous achievement at any age, and Marc's selection recognises his continued commitment to hockey and his experience within the game.

Steve Drowley – Wales Over 70s

Meanwhile, Steve Drowley is representing Wales Over 70s in Breda.

The Wales O70s have made a strong start to their World Cup campaign and currently sit second, behind England, after three matches. Their record stands at one win, one draw and one defeat, putting them firmly in contention as the tournament continues.

Steve will be hoping to help Wales build on that position as they take on some of the world's best Masters hockey nations.

Having two Gwent players representing Wales at the World Masters Hockey World Cup is a fantastic achievement and something the whole club can be proud of.

From our junior players progressing through regional and national pathways to our senior and Masters players pulling on the Welsh shirt, Gwent continues to be represented at the highest levels of the sport.
