So today was long overdue, and it was fabulous to see the boys back on the hockey pitch playing matches again. With most players transitioning age groups this season it was however one very big pitch today. The space that the boys normally play on instantly doubled, and they were up against some bigger older players. After the initial ‘rabbit in the headlights’ moment the Gwent players settled and as the games progressed they all did incredibly well.

The games got better as the morning went on… Robin, Danny and Harri were fabulous in defence. Leo grafted in midfield alongside Ollie and Lucas, Zack and James made some fabulous opportunities up front.

The boys all listened really well and looked at marking players more, helping defence and starting to space out.

Moving forwards in training we are going to be working on playing on a bigger pitch, and look at positioning on the pitch to improve their ability to mark players and how to create spaces for their teammates to pass into.

Boys you were brilliant… I hope you had fun! We certainly did… See you in training
