Believe it or not this is the revised match report, the first was too long and a full recount of every short corner was unnecessary apparently!!
Last night's game then, was full of action as all who witnessed will agree I'm sure.
Gwent started slowly, despite winning the toss (can I take credit for that?!) and gave Witchurch the chance to dominate early and get in behind the defence to win a handful of short corners. Thanks to a well-drilled short corner routine, all were repelled without too much concern from the back 5.
As the half progressed, the Gwent midfield began to retain possession and create openings for our forward line. 4 short corners of our own nearly produced goals with a couple of quality, last ditch saves just keeping us out.
Witchurch came back and forced a number of opportunities with their centre mid and captain bursting through, but the youth of Gwent were up to the challenges. Will Riley using the ball well and lung busting efforts from his fellow midfielders along with our GK Taylor reincarnated as a striker working tirelessly gave Gwent a strong platform to work on.
Gwent also produced some quality low-risk transfers any team would be proud of... I wont mention the GP-like aerial eh Rhys?
